Students Share Projects at Undergraduate Research Conference
More than 70 undergraduate research projects were on display April 16 at the Undergraduate Research Conference, planned annually by the Department of Human Science. Since the conference’s founding in 2003, about 920 student projects have been presented. The first event included 10 posters, and this year’s featured 72 from schools around the region.

Mayer Professor in Health Equity Delivers 2019 Values Based Lecture
Jennifer Huang Bouey, PhD, MPH, MBBS, the Susan H. Mayer Professor in Health Equity and a tenured associate professor of international health at the School of Nursing & Health Studies, delivered the 2019 Values Based Lecture, planned by the NHS Committee on Mission and Values. She spoke on, “Journey of a Social Epidemiologist: Facts and Myths about Immigrant Health.”

Alternative Spring Break Experience Provokes Reflection, Introspection for NHS Student
As one of the immersion leaders in an alternative breaks program through the Center for Social Justice Research, Teaching & Service, Emily Graul (NHS’20), a global health major, not only helped plan programming activities for her peers before and after their trip to Oaxaca, Mexico, but also worked with CSJ staff to ensure the trip’s themes and learning goals were integrated into their daily activities.

Georgetown Alumna Conducts C-Section Research as Fulbright Grantee
Thu Dao (NHS’17), who majored in international health (now called global health) at the School of Nursing & Health Studies, was selected for a grant through the Fulbright U.S. Student Program to conduct research on C-section rates in Vietnam.

Oral History Project to Shine a Light on Black History at School
Dr. Edilma Yearwood, chair of the Department of Professional Nursing Practice, and Mr. Brian Floyd, assistant dean, have been working on an oral history project featuring the first four African American graduates of the Georgetown School of Nursing – Margaret (Hayes) Jordan (BSN 1964), Brenda Kennedy Lockley (BSN 1965), Dr. Bernardine (Mays) Lacey (BSN 1969), and Priscilla Rogers (BSN 1969).

Senior Hones Skills as Laboratory Researcher, Co-Chairs Annual Conference
