Program: Accelerated Second Degree BS-Nursing Experience Prior to Georgetown: Research Technician in Microbiology & Immunology
lab Undergraduate school: University of Yaoundé I, Cameroon Hometown: Bafoussam, West Cameroon
Why did you come to Georgetown?
I am from a very poor family, and I have always had a great deal
of respect for well-educated people with both a great spirit and
great mind. I often hoped to further my education and enhance my
personal growth. When I immigrated here, I had a friend in graduate
school at Georgetown who told me that Georgetown is a challenging
but rewarding school. I knew then that this school could offer
me the best education and growth experience. I never dreamed that
in a million years I would be able to attend this school and I
feel very fortunate to be here. Furthermore, Georgetown offers
a lot of support to the students. People are always willing to
provide help whenever it is needed.
How do you plan to use Georgetown as a springboard for your future
plans?
The Georgetown University model is such a powerful one. It teaches
us not only to be good students but to be good to others in life
as a whole. I will carry the model everywhere I go.
In what ways has Georgetown affected your career goals?
Georgetown has given me the basic tools I need to achieve my dream
of being a part of the health care profession in order to help
the community. The knowledge that I have acquired here at GU will
enable me to provide help to both the people in the US and those
in Africa.
How has the faculty contributed to your overall experience?
The faculty at Georgetown has been kind, understanding and devoted. They
have, on many occasions, set aside time to offer extra help – both
in helping me through the admissions process and once I arrived at
GU. Whenever it has been very hard and I felt like giving up,
the faculty has given me the encouragement to keep on going.
