NHS Students Return from Alternative Spring Break
Students
from the School of Nursing & Health Studies recently
returned from New Orleans, where they participated in a community
service project over spring break.
Emily Herzberg (NHS’08), Robin Rector (NHS’08), Britton
Stuart (NHS’07), Allison Yudt (NHS’08), and Martyna Skowron
(NHS’09) traveled to the city’s flood-ravaged Ninth Ward.
Working alongside other Georgetown and university students, the
NHS team built houses, attended a play written by a Georgetown graduate
about Hurricane Katrina, and visited the French Quarter.
“Overall, we had a wonderful time not only exploring our construction
skills, but also bringing spirit and hope to people of the hurricane
affected areas,” said Skowron.
In addition, several other NHS students traveled to different sites
during the week-long break.
Alex Daubert (NHS’09) and Suzanne O’Hara (NHS’08)
went to Gulfport, Miss., for home repair and relief efforts. Helena
Kuhn (NHS’08) was a site leader for the Spring Break in Appalachia
program.
