On Wednesday, April 25, the Department of Nursing at NHS hosted an
all-day series of scholarly presentations in the ICC Auditorium.
More than 30 nursing seniors presented on topics ranging from palliative
care and HIV/AIDS, to pain assessment and health disparities.
One duo, including students Jordan Ross (NHS'07) and Diane Tager
(NHS'07), spoke about, "Surviving Sepsis: Analysis of Professional
Practice."
"[Nurses] are really advocates for the patient," said
Tager. "The main goal of the project is to save patients' lives."
"The overall hope is that we can reduce mortality...and keep
patients alive," added Ross.
Another team addressed "The Icon Otherwise Known as Pain: Assessment
and Management of English vs. Non-English Patients in the Emergency
Department."
"Nurses to need to be an advocate for pain assessment and management," said
Emily Quinn (NHS'07), during that presentation.
