NHS Professor, Alumna Publish Article

J.P. Hyatt, assistant professor of human science, and recent graduate Elizabeth Kander (NHS'08), co-authored a recent article in the journal Muscle & Nerve. Hyatt served as first author.

The article is entitled "PAX3/7 Expression Coincides with MyoD During Chronic Skeletal Muscle Overload." Other authors are affiliated with institutions including the University of Puget Sound, the University of California at Los Angeles, and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

"This is the first study to show that Pax3 and Pax7 mRNAs rapidly increase in response to overload of an adult rat skeletal muscle and that these increases precede any change in MyoD expression," the article says.
