NHS Professor Publishes In New Book

Mayri Sagady Leslie, a faculty member in the nationally ranked Nurse Midwifery Program at NHS, has published a chapter in the brand new book Our Bodies, Ourselves: Pregnancy and Birth (Simon and Schuster, March 2008).

The book addresses the questions and needs of women during pregnancy, childbirth, and early motherhood. It covers a wide range of areas, including choosing a provider and birth setting, making decisions about prenatal testing, arranging for continuous labor support, exploring options for pain relief, and recovering from birth.

Sagady Leslie contributed to chapter 11, entitled "Coping with Pain." This part of the book looks at topics such as planning ahead, non-drug strategies to ease labor, and pain medication.
