In January, the Department of International Health at NHS welcomed
Weibing Wang, M.B.B.S., Ph.D., a lecturer in the Department
of Epidemiology at Fudan University in China, as a visiting
post-doctoral fellow.
An accomplished researcher in the field of tuberculosis transmission,
Wang came to Georgetown as part of the university’s partnership
with Fudan.
Wang has authored or co-authored 18 articles that have appeared
in journals such as the International Journal of Tuberculosis
and Lung Disease, the European Journal of Public Health, and
the Chinese Journal of Epidemiology.
In addition, Wang has served as principal investigator and co-principal
investigator on seven funded grants that focus on various areas
of TB research, including transmission in China, gender equity
in TB control in India and China, multi-drug resistance, and
socio-economic disparities in health care.
Wang’s arrival builds upon the Department of International
Health’s strong ties with Fudan.
Currently, Frank Wong, Ph.D., associate professor of international
health, and Jennifer Huang, Ph.D., assistant professor of international
health, are collaborating with Fudan’s School of Public
Health on a federally funded grant to study HIV/AIDS
transmission among the migrant population.
