Academic Council Participates in AIDS Walk
Nearly
30 students from Georgetown University School of Nursing & Health
Studies participated in the annual AIDS Walk Washington on Saturday,
Oct. 6.
The undergraduates participated on a team organized by senior
nursing majors Jackie O'Connell (NHS'08) and Erin McCaffrey (NHS'08)
and sponsored by the NHS Academic Council. O'Connell is a senior
representative on the council, which is led by chair Robin Rector
(NHS'08), a nursing major, and vice chair Martyna Skowron (NHS'09),
a human science major.
The event, according to The Washington Post, raises money for
the Whitman-Walker Clinic in Washington, the area's largest provider
of health services for individuals with HIV/AIDS. About 7,000 people
participated this year, raising more than $800,000.
