Filerman To Serve On McKinsey Panel
Gary L. Filerman, Ph.D., chair of the Department of Health Systems
Administration at NHS, has been invited by McKinsey & Company
to join the organization's planning process for the future of
health services in London.
"McKinsey will publish a landmark report laying out the strategic
blueprint for services across the capital for the next decade," said
Filerman. "A critical component of making it a reality will
be ensuring that the workforce is in place to underpin the new
system."
Filerman joins an international expert advisory panel that will
address three areas: 1) Workforce strategy: How many doctors, nurses,
and non-clinical staff will be needed? 2) Education and training
strategy: How will these specialties be trained and how do postgraduate
training curricula need to be adapted? 3) Education commissioning
strategy: How should financial resources be spent to achieve better
training results and value for money?
Filerman says the panel will likely complete its work by the end
of this year.
