NHS Faculty to Present at Conference

Several members of the School of Nursing & Health Studies faculty
will present
at the 30th International Congress on Law and Mental Health, held
this summer
in Italy at the University of Padua.
NHS Dean Bette Keltner; Craig and Sharon Ramey, directors of the
Georgetown
University Center on Health and Education; and Kathryn Leonhardy,
assistant
professor in the NHS Department of International Health, will speak
at the June
25-30 event.
Keltner and Leonhardy will address, “Developmental Well-Being
in the Western
Hemisphere: The Challenge and Potential for Special Needs Youth.”
Craig Ramey will speak on “The Right to Thrive,” during
a session on
developmental well-being from pre-birth to age three.
And Sharon Ramey will discuss, “Obstacles and Resolutions
to Help Families
Foster Developmental Well-Being.”
The annual conference is part of the International Academy of Law
and Mental
Health, which convenes experts from law, the health professions,
the social
sciences, and the humanities to address issues arising from the intersection
of
law and mental health.
