NHS Faculty Member Wins Corbin Award

Mayri Sagady Leslie, MSNMayri Sagady Leslie, MSN, a certified nurse midwife in the Department of Nursing at NHS, has been awarded The Hazel Corbin/Childbirth Connection Grant for Evidence-Based Midwifery Care.

She and her colleague Amy Romano, MSN, a certified nurse midwife who practices in Delaware, will be presented with the award at the annual meeting of the American College of Nurse-Midwives on May 26 in Chicago.

Along with the award, the two will receive a $6,000 grant to support their interactive Web-based project that will provide an evidence-based, decision-making tool for mothers-to-be.

“The site is designed to be fun and help women make their birth plans,” said Sagady Leslie. “It will give feedback on choices and options based on current evidence for the safety of mothers and babies.”

The Web development portion of the project is also being supported by Lamaze International.
