Healthcare Executives of Georgetown University (HEGU) is an organization designed to facilitate the development of personal and professional skills necessary for effective leadership in the field of healthcare. Members are provided with opportunities to network with professionals from local, regional, and national institutions.

Ongoing activities include guest speakers, seminars, and volunteering projects, which will not only enhance your professional growth, but will serve to strengthen valuable bonds with colleagues at Georgetown. All students at Georgetown University are welcome to join.

Fall 2008 HEGU Calendar of Events

Tuesday, September 16, 4pm-5pm - Felllowship Seminar: Come find out general information about the application process for various fellowship programs.

Thursday, September 25, 12pm - Resume Booklet Workshop: For first years and new comers. Join us to groom your resume and add it to the HEGU Resume Booklet that we distribute to speakers and key members of the healthcare community.

Saturday, October 4, 8am at Freedom Plaza- AIDS Walk: Join Team HEGU to volunteer or walk at the DC AIDS Walk to raise funds and awareness for treatment and prevention of AIDS. You can choose to walk as a student with a registration fee of $15, donate, or volunteer free of charge. See information at the following webpage. Be sure to register under Team HEGU (First Name: Team Last Name: HEGU). If you are interested in attending, please let me know and we will be sure to coordinate. More detailed information is to come. Also, be sure to pre-order your HEGU T-Shirt to wear at the event!

Tuesday, October 6, time TBA - Nominations for HEGU Election: Be sure to nominate the new HEGU leadership team that will take over in January 2009. This is your opportunity to play a part in carrying on the HEGU legacy.

Tuesday, November 4, all day - Super Tuesday! HEGU Elections: Your vote counts! Don't forget to vote!

Joining HEGU is easy!

  1. Complete a membership application.
  2. Submit completed application and annual dues of $30 (cash or check made payable to Georgetown University) to any HEGU Officer or to HEGU’s faculty advisor, Dr. Robert Friedland.
  3. Attend your first HEGU event and watch your network grow.
