The Graduate Program Residency

The graduate residency is the experiential portion of the curriculum where students are able to relate classroom theory to a practice environment. This course is provided in the last semester of study. Students spend a minimum of 40 hours per week in the host facility with a preceptor. They also complete an additional course and attend an integrative case seminar.

Past residency sites included:

The graduate residency is an exciting opportunity for students to apply course knowledge and gain experience in a healthcare setting. The residency is taken in the second year of the student's enrollment. Every attempt is made to place the student in a healthcare setting of their choice in concert with course requirements. Placement is a partnership between the student and the faculty who manage the courses. Students are encouraged to think about career options prior to placement as many of the experiences have led to substantive skill development and employment post completion of the program. Students can be placed at many different levels within organizations depending upon their previous experiences and the availability of preceptors. The residency is uncompensated and may not be experienced in a student's work setting.
