HSA Graduate Program
Welcome to the Georgetown University Health Systems Administration Program. Our graduate program provides a broad systems approach to the management of health care organizations and to the understanding of the social, professional, technical and political forces impacting health care, which is essential for leadership in this dynamic industry. The program emphasizes the central role of the hospital, critical thinking, and the challenge of achieving the highest possible quality of care.
This is the program for individuals who aspire to be effective decision makers
and to participate in developing a health care system that provides accessible
and affordable high quality care. In the Jesuit tradition, the mission of Georgetown
University's NHS is to improve the health and well-being of all
people. We fulfill the mission
through a curriculum that focuses on the professionalism of health
service
administrators
- individuals who are comfortable with management and leadership responsibilities
and who have immense influence on the quality of life of the community. It
is the most complex management assignment in our society, and none is more
consequential. If you are called to that role, Georgetown is your program.
The Georgetown graduate program is designed to educate generalists who can successfully move across the broad range of health services organizations and programs at progressively higher levels of managerial responsibility. The focus is on foundation learning that provides the basis for the continuing professional growth that is essential in this dynamic field.
Our faculty includes both highly qualified academics and practicing experts. We believe that future health care administrators and leaders must have the opportunity to learn from individuals who are successfully engaged in the challenge every day. The Washington health services community is rich in expertise and our faculty includes outstanding practitioners in hospital administration, finance, managerial ethics, information management and health policy. They participate fully in the faculty and are available for advising on both academic and career development.
We are looking for full-time and part-time students who accept the challenge
and want to contribute to our learning environment. For more information, please
feel free to directly contact the Program Director, Dr. Bernie Horak, at (202)
687-4209 or by e-mail at bjh28@georgetown.edu.
